“Devotion” was created by Amber Damour of Kaufman, Texas, as a tribute to her grandfather, Eli Benedict, who passed away in January of 2021 at the age of 98. “Shortly after his death, the family Bible from the late 1800’s was passed down to my father, Bruce. When I first set my eyes on it, I cried. It was such a delicate piece of history and testament of faith, with my family’s names written so beautifully on its pages,” explains Amber. “I was compelled to create a story centered around it.” During that same time frame, Amber was also given a farmhouse table that was a gift from a great aunt to Amber’s grandfather and grandmother on their wedding in the 1940’s. The final piece for the image was a remastered portrait of Amber’s great, great grandmother from the late 1800’s. “Ultimately, this image brought together my father with three special pieces of family history and will always be one of my favorite images.”
