“Carried Away” was created by Shannon Squires, one of the speakers for IHeart 2021. “Each year, Ruby’s mom brings her to me for her birthday photos,” Shannon explains. “This particular year, they wanted something extra creative that also incorporated Ruby’s love of dance. When Stephani, her mom, showed me her outfit, a vision of her being carried away by butterflies popped into my head.” The subject was posed lying over a stool as her mom helped keep her balance by holding her feet up. A seamless white background made it easy to extract her in Photoshop. The butterflies came from a shop that Shannon taught that had a wide variety of Photoshop products, including butterflies.
