“Fantasy Flight” was created by Sandra Pearce, an instructor at the Texas School of Professional Photography, who created this enchanting art piece after photographing an African Bee Eater bird. After making a duplicate layer of the original image, Sandra extracted and painted the bird and one limb for the bird’s perch. Next, she painted a blue sky with clouds for the background. “I wanted to add something more than the bird, so I found some photos of my granddaughter that I could manipulate by cutting and moving. I also painted a different color for the clothing to make it more visible and put her layer behind the bird,” she explains. To add yet another artistic touch, Sandra added a baby bluebird that she had previously photographed in her yard.
